Twas a Lemongrass Kinda Day

Despite the overcast and the fact that you couldn't see 2 feet in front of you, I had a very fun and productive day.

Woke up (late, and its Luigi's fault) and hit up the Pico Festival in Santa Monica. My jewelry teacher was putting on a demonstration at school and I wanted to do some writing on the event. I had some oh so delicious butternut squash soup and some french bread I wouldn't even begin to know how to pronounce, but it was bomb.

After this we headed toward Eagle Rock to check out the Eagle Rock Brewery but we got side tracked when Julienne invited us over to try out her new tobacs for her giant hookah. Chocolate chocolate coins coins. Chilled with the little juniper flower until we had to send her off to work and immediately head to Eagle Rock Brewery.

We reached the address my navigation told us to go and we waiting outside in my car for about 15 minutes trying to decide if this was the right place. "Well there's a lot of white people so I think this is the right place." We strolled in like we knew exactly where we were and what we were doing. (Ultimately, we discovered that was the right tactic to use) We each ordered a pint of their brand new Lemongrass weitbier and it was deliciuossss. We played madlibs for a while, Luigi made me laugh a lot and then we headed out to find some food. I spent the rest of the night eating filipino bread at Jayjay's house which was the perfect ending to my perfect day.

Officially retired my year of neglecting my painting.
I forgot how much I love to do this.

I'm ashamed.
I didn't know she passed away.
I'll keep you in my heart always for inspiring me to create things which are beautiful to me and for no one else.
May your heart rest in peace.

rice straw design

Following each rice harvest in the jenju village community, taiwan, a huge amount of rice straw is left behind. designers gina hsu and nagaaki shaw have developed 'rice straw design' - a series of objects - in which the straw received from the fields is used by the community to promote the material itself, becoming a point of departure for use in arts and crafts.

amid.cero9

exhibiting at this year's venice architecture biennale, 'cherry tree blossom' by madrid-based
architectural office amid.cero9 (cristina díaz moreno and efrén garcía grinda) is a structure
set in the middle of the jerte valley in spain. the site is unique for its single-species cherry
orchards that transform the landscape every year.

the lightweight roof of 'cherry tree blossom' is composed of fabric and a three-dimensional
structural system made of slender interwoven steel. the resulting form is an organic
'modern chapel' with bevelled openings punctured throughout the surface. light enters
the shelter in streams, creating a cave-like experience for its inhabitants.
